Absentia notes: New acquisitions, season 2 talk
Let’s start here with the news that the Stana Katic – Patrick Heusinger series has been picked up by a couple of other broadcasters internationally. This only boosts its clout as a hot seller and one that could sustain itself for many years to come.
First, let’s look at the Latin American iteration of Crackle, which is going to be launching the series on November 3. You can take a look at the teaser below — it’s been known for a while that they would broadcast the show, but we’re sure that for some of our friends who have the service it’s nice to know when it’s happening. Crackle is owned by Sony, and given that this is a Sony-produced show that does make some sense.
While there is a U.S. arm of Crackle, we haven’t gotten any indication that they will be the broadcaster. There is an official home for the show, but we are still waiting for that announcement.
Meanwhile, in France it has been confirmed that episodes are being rolled out as of right now on SFR Play, a subscription-based platform owned by Altice. They are launching multiple episodes a week, which probably is going to be super-exciting for those of you in France who love to binge-watch things.
A toast to you all in France! Enjoy the show…
A little more hope for season 2?
While this isn’t any confirmation of anything, we do like a comment that was made on Instagram post (which you can check out below) from Cara Theobold (Alice), one that makes it very clear that she would be very interested in coming back for more — she’s got a new look, and she claims that Alice could “embrace her dark side” if the show comes back and she’s still a part of it. That’s the thing — you don’t quite know who is going to make it out of Absentia given that this is the sort of show where almost anything can happen…
Rest assured, we’ll have some more assorted news and updates when it comes to Absentia in the weeks ahead. Hopefully there’ll be a US premiere date announcement in there, but as we wrote recently at CarterMatt, it would actually benefit the show to just wait until 2018 to air here.
