Whiskey Cavailer: Scandal’s Scott Foley has landed new role

Scott Foley

Scott Foley didn’t have to wait long to find a job post-Scandal

According to Deadline, Foley has landed the role in Whiskey Cavalieran hourlong action-dramedy project executive produced by Bill Lawrence. Foley will also produce and Dave Hemingson will write. ABC has picked up the series and has given a pilot commitment to the project.

Whiskey Cavalier, per the official logline, “follows the adventures of FBI agent Will Chase (codename: Whiskey Cavalier) — played by Foley — who, following an emotional break-up, is assigned to work with CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: Fiery Tribune). Together, they lead an inter-agency team of spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics.”

This concept is an attractive one. There are many television shows on right now that have a military aspect to them, however, they are dramas. This series plans to have a more humous side to it, which is definitely new and fresh and exciting. Of course, this series will have the usual work romance, the complicated friendships, and work-related issues, which it should but something about this series screams interesting. With Foley joining the cast, the series is one we will look at for.

Foley became a household name after he first appeared on Shonda Rhimes’s Scandal as Jake Ballard. He recurred during Season 2 and was later promoted to a series regular during Season 3. Before that he recurred on Grey’s Anatomy as Henry Burton, the husband of Dr. Teddy Altman, and has credits that also include The Goodwin Games, True Blood, and Scrubs.

For writer Hemingson, who is coming off an overdeal at ABC Studios, this will mark his return. Under the agreement, he worked on a number of ABC series, including The Catch, Black-ish, and Uncle Buck. He previously served as executive producer/co-showrunner on CBS’ Friends With Better Lives and ABC’s Don’t Trust The B—- and also worked on Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother and Lie To Me. Whiskey Cavalier will be the start of a new project and new direction for Hemingson.

While there’s no word on when the series is expected to premiere on ABC, as soon as we hear anything we will relay the information. This includes additional casting information as well as more detailed information about the series.
