Supergirl season 3 episode 4 preview: The cult of Supergirl
If you have seen some of our previous reporting here at CarterMatt on the subject of Lowe’s character of Thomas Coville, you know that he has an interesting fascination with the Girl of Steel. If you are interested in getting some more news on that subject, it’s this: He and his cult basically worship her. They view her as a god, and regardless of whether or not Coville is a good man this could cause some problems.

CHAD LOWE GUEST STARS – Kara (Melissa Benoist) investigates a secretive new group whose leader, Thomas Coville (guest star Chad Lowe), has a mysterious connection to Supergirl. Meanwhile, Samantha (Odette Annable) feels like she’s letting Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay) down, and J’onn (David Harewood) confesses an old secret. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Katie Rose Rogers (#304). Original airdate 10/30/2017.
There is a fun little bit of irony to this episode if you go back and look at when Kara was under the influence of Red Kryptonite. She proclaimed way back when that the people of National City worshipped her, and as a it turns out, she was actually right to some extent! There are clearly some people out there who do, and that’s a dangerous thing for Kara. Treating Supergirl as a deity means that you could be willing to kill yourself for her, and that’s troublesome since you could get in the way during a crucial battle — and the last thing that Kara really should want is some blood on her hands courtesy of someone who got a little reckless and wanted to be a hero during one of her missions.
Beyond just the story of Kara there is some good stuff here for J’onn for the second straight week. As for what this story actually contains, though, we’ll be waiting for a little while longer to find out!
