Madam Secretary ratings rise for big Nadine episode; NCIS: LA slips
This past episode entitled “The Essentials,” ended up drawing effectively the show’s best ratings of the whole season courtesy of a 0.9 in the key 18-49 demographic. It’s appropriate that this happened given that it was the most shocking episode of the season (read more over at the link here), but there’s no real way most viewers could have known this in advance. There’s a chance that NFL overruns in some markets may cause this rating to change slightly in the end, but if it happens we don’t anticipate that the decline is going to be by all that much.
This is a show that, for the time being, does appear to be tracking towards a season 5 renewal. While it may be one of the lower-rated shows on the CBS schedule, one of the things worth remembering is that its timeslot is far from favorable. It’s also performing much better than Elementary did in this timeslot for most of this past year.
As for some of the other shows that aired on Sunday night on CBS we saw NCIS: Los Angeles drop down to a 1.0 rating, while Wisdom of the Crowd managed to keep the entire 1.1 rating that it had the week before. We’re mostly curious with it now to see how it fares on a night where it doesn’t have a big NFL lead-in, given that it’s had one for the majority of its weeks so far this season. We’d like for it to get a full season; we’ve railed against its title for most of the year and will probably continue to do so, but it is one of the stronger shows that is currently on the schedule for the fall.
Ten Days in the Valley hanging in there
While we don’t think that the Kyra Sedgwick series is doing anywhere near enough to get it a second season or additional episodes, at least everyone who is watching the show continues to do so! This past episode generated a 0.4 rating, equal to the ones that came beforehand.
What about The Simpsons?
This weekend its annual Treehouse of Horror ended up drawing a 1.6 rating. That’s pretty good for a night where there wasn’t a big NFL overrun helping it out. The show did kind of get screwed in that capacity because of it, though.
