The Walking Dead season 8: Is Seth Gilliam leaving after Gabriel shocker?

Is Seth Gilliam leaving

Is Seth Gilliam leaving The Walking Dead after the events of the crazy season 8 premiere? There is definitely some reason to worry.

Where does much of that stem from? It’s really as simple as the events near the end of the season 8 premiere, which featured the Father Gabriel character surrounded by two things that no normal man among Rick’s group should want: Negan and a bunch of walkers. Yep, things are not looking good for the resident man of faith on the show. Add to this his lack of experience when it comes to actually battling some walkers and we continue to think that things are a recipe for disaster for this character.

If there is one thing that gives us hope that Gilliam will still have a job in a few weeks, it’s this: Typically when characters end up in this situation they often figure a way out. Look at Glenn actually surviving the dumpster! him surviving this current situation (the poor guy really just wanted a good hiding spot to start) would be far from the most surprising thing that the show has ever done.

Characters like Gabriel are, in the end, important to this show in that there aren’t all that many like them at this point. They’re a dying breed — people who aren’t all that equipped to handle the zombie apocalypse, but they still find a way to be out in it. If the show was to get rid of him at this point we’d be incredibly depressed, largely because there is so much more that the show has to offer here when it comes to growth. We want to be a part of his journey in the way that we have so many other characters who started off with nothing.

Also, we just want to see Seth Gilliam as a part of this show given the fact that he is a tremendous actor, and someone who really does still deserve even more praise for some of his work than what he’s received to date. We can only hope that he sticks around — or, if producers really want to be vicious and send him on his way — that they come up with a way to do it that is both very crazy and unexpected. Have the character go out with a bang in the end that he does go out at all.

Do you think that Seth Gilliam’s character is in danger?
