Supergirl season 3 episode 4 spoilers: More on Chad Lowe appearance

Chad Lowe is officially appearing on Supergirl season 3 episode 4, and thanks to the fine folks over at The CW we’ve got more scoop ahead! The Pretty Little Liars alum is going to be appearing on the October 30 installment entitled “The Faithful,” playing a character in Thomas Coville who is a bit of a cult leader. He doesn’t seem to have any abilities on the surface, and his group has a very specific deity in which they honor: Supergirl. It does make sense that people would eventually choose to worship her, given that she is one of the most powerful people on the planet and possesses powers that are by and large unexplainable to other people.

The synopsis below for this episode doesn’t so much offer more news on this character, but it does give you at least a reasonable sense of what’s happening elsewhere. Take a look:

“Kara (Melissa Benoist) investigates a secretive new group whose leader, Thomas Coville (guest star Chad Lowe), has a mysterious connection to Supergirl. Meanwhile, Samantha (Odette Annable) feels like she’s letting Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay) down, and J’onn (David Harewood) confesses an old secret. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Katie Rose Rogers (#304). Original airdate 10/30/2017.”

The Samantha story is the part of this that feels the most interesting on the surface just because it’s going to be in such contrast to everything she could be later as she starts to become more and more like Reign. At the moment she probably does realize that something is off — after all, what she was able to do in order to save her daughter was superhuman in the premiere, but she may excuse that for the time being as adrenaline or just try not to think about it all that much. We have a feeling that this is going to change as the season goes along and more interesting things start to become known to her.

Ultimately, there’s going to be a good bit to like about this episode, but we also don’t anticipate it being a game-changer for the Big Bad. We feel like much of the big Reign story is going to come at around the winter finale.
