Chicago PD season 5 spoilers: Quantico alum to bring back Halstead’s past
As first reported by Deadline, former Ballers and Quantico actress Annabelle Acosta is set to appear on the long-running NBC series in the part of Camila. She is a woman who Jesse Lee Soffer’s character encounters while he is on an undercover mission, and what happens between him, her, and her family causes him to think about some of his own past in the military and some of what he went through there. This has the potential to be an interesting, meaty role for the actor and we’re definitely excited about the idea of learning about his past.
Even though this season is at present only two episodes in, it feels already that this has been a pivotal one for the Halstead character. He’s made it clear that he is adrift and struggling with Lindsay’s abrupt departure, and to make matters worse he does also have the events of the premiere hanging over him when he accidentally shot the young girl. These are not the sort of life events you get over quickly — he wanted to get engaged to Erin and killing an innocent girl is way different than killing someone who has a gun pointed in your direction. Jay’s military history is likely tied in many ways to why he decided to become a cop in the first place and there are some interesting things to learn about him through this. Also, there could be opportunities to see some other guest stars in the process since he certainly worked with many other people.
Who knows? Maybe Camila is someone he actually knows from his time in the military, or maybe the two have some sort of mutual friend and it’s someone we get a chance to encounter a little later on down the road. One way or another we know that this story this season seems to be going all-in with some of the personal stories and allowing you more unique opportunities to get to know some of the characters. We’d love for there be a personal episode for every series regular by the time we get around to midseason and maybe then add another few into the mix by the time we get around to the second half.
