The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 2 preview: Is Leonard fired from his job?

Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 2

After Leonard and Penny had a smaller role tonight, The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 2 should offer more of a spotlight. You’ll have a better chance to see what’s coming up for these two characters in terms of their careers — especially Leonard’s. He’s going to shoot himself in the foot in a big way thanks to an interview with Ira Flatow, and he has to find a way to get out of it.

Here’s the problem that Leonard almost always faces — he’s incredible earnest, and with that does at times come the propensity to make things worse for himself before they get better. No matter what the mistake he makes is in this episode, he’ll almost surely try to do something that ends up making it worse.

The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 2 synopsis – “Leonard angers the university – and the entire physics community – after he gives an embarrassing interview. Also, Amy and Bernadette bond over having to hide their success from Sheldon and Howard, Monday, Oct. 2 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Ira Flatow returns to guest star as himself, and Regina King returns as Mrs. Davis.”

First of all, who doesn’t want to see an appearance from Regina King for the first time in years? Mrs. Davis is one of the funnier recurring characters since she has zero issue putting the guys in their place, and it seems as though Leonard really needs it in this case.

As for the Sheldon – Howard storyline, it does feel as though we should be past guys being such egomaniacs that they cannot perceive it possibly that their wives are more successful than they are. Yet, these two guys do still have that issue. Hopefully, this episode (which is entitled “The Retraction Reaction”) does some work in order to change that. Given that we did see at the end of the premiere episode tonight Sheldon realizing that he needs to be more of a team with his new fiancée, we do think that it’s possible he makes more of an effort.

For Howard, he just needs to realize that he needs money in order to raise two children while living in California. This is not an easy thing to do in 2017! We do like that the show explores this from a realistic angle — it helps to offset how much money Sheldon and Leonard probably have at this point from being in that apartment.
