NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 3 spoilers: A ghost story

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere

Apparently, NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 3 is going to be the precursor to Halloween that you didn’t quite know you needed! This installment is coming your way on October 10, and its title in “Dead Man Calling” definitely will make you think of some creepiness around every corner.

As if the title alone doesn’t do it for you, we certainly do think that the synopsis below will:

“The NCIS team investigates the copycat murder of an unsolved case from 150 years ago that spawned a legendary New Orleans ghost story. Also, Gregorio is spooked when the case is connected to a recent séance and a local medium, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Tuesday, Oct. 10 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.”

This is the sort of case that a show like NCIS: New Orleans can get away with that effectively nobody else within the show’s universe can. Think of things this way — if you’re living in New Orleans, there’s a good chance that you’re familiar with séances, mediums, voodoos, and other creepy things that go bump in the night. It’s a huge part of the culture of the region, and that works in many different ways. It leads to some great stories shared by the locals, and adds to the rich tapestry of what makes the story great. However, at the same time what we’re also going to see these sort of legends and things that go bump in the night aid criminals. More than likely, they may view the superstition surrounding some of this stuff as a way to weave their way through shady situations and get what they want. If they can scare people away from whatever they’re trying to achieve, whether it be a robbery or a murder case, they may be able to avoid arrest. This is what we effectively like to call at this point the Scooby-Doo effect. (If NCIS: New Orleans ever concludes an episode with someone calling Percy or Lasalle meddling kids, we’re going to feel very much like our work here is done.)
