MasterChef season 8 episode 18 exclusive: Yachecia’s dish comes to her in a dream

Somehow, somehow, MasterChef season 8 episode 18 continues to find a way to give us great soundbites in the middle of challenges. Last week, the show brought to us the tremendous gem otherwise known as Dino complimenting Gordon Ramsay on his gym body midway through his curry dish. This time around, you have Yachecia telling Aaron Sanchez that she had a dream about the gazpacho that she is making for him and the other judges. Take a look at the exclusive sneak peek below!

Let’s share some real talk: There have been some days where we’ve wandered around to the CarterMatt team talking about food we’ve dreamed of eating (typically, it’s variations of pizza). However, it’s pretty rare that we have had a dream of food we’re actually cooking. To be fair, it’s probably easy to dream about food when you’re in a competition that requires you to more or less spend every living second of the day thinking about food. This is the environment that you’re in, so of course this is going to be heavily concentrated in your mind. If this dream helps Yachecia win this upcoming challenge, more power to her!

This challenge is going to be a little more emotional than some of the other ones we’ve seen so far this season, largely become some loved ones are going to be paying a visit to the kitchen for the first time! They’ll offer some much-needed emotional support, and remind the remaining home cooks that they really are close to the light at the end of the tunnel and will be there before they know it. You have to think about the family visit in these terms: These are people who’ve been away from their friends and relatives for weeks, often with limited to no communication during that time. They don’t have the luxury of being able to sit back and detail every part of the competition to them during filming (or often afterwards, either). This gives them someone in their personal life who can understand more of what they actually went through in this experience, and it’s so much more valuable than many prizes or challenge rewards you can get. Think about things this way: Being on MasterChef is a great experience, but your family’s going to be around forever. Yachecia’s probably going to cherish her daughter being there far more than we can say here.

Will this gazpacho also turn out to be a winner? We hope so, given that we’ve said for weeks that Yachecia is one of our favorites to make it to the end of the competition and win.
