America’s Got Talent results preview: Will Dunkin’ Save help Diavolo, Colin Cloud?

Diavolo

Tonight, the America’s Got Talent results show is going to air, and this the final one for the quarterfinal rounds. Seven more people are advancing, and this means that five people are going home — for now. We’ll have more on that a little bit later in this article, since there could be a wild-card or three entering the competition down the road.

For the sake of this article, we want to give you a good sense as to what to see in the results show — mainly in terms of who is safe and who could use that Dunkin’ Save to stay alive.

Almost certainly safe – You start with Kechi, given that she’s a singer who performed at the end of the show — we don’t think it was her best vocal, but it won’t matter. Go ahead and also throw in here Chase Goehring and Mike Yung. Singers rule this show in the Simon Cowell era, regardless of whether or not we love that.

Almost certainly gone Oscar Hernandez is fun, but we don’t see him moving on. The same goes for Junior and Emily. Maybe Final Draft gets to be in contention for the Dunkin’ Save, but we don’t see it happening for them in the end.

The other contenders – You’ve still got four spots remaining in the next live show, and there are six contenders: Sara & Hero, Diavolo, Colin Cloud, Angelina Green, Greater Works Choir, and Oskar and Gaspar.

Of this group, you can almost file this into two different groups: Who we want to see in the next round, and probably who we will see. We do feel pretty good about both Sara & Hero and Diavolo getting through one way or another, even if America didn’t vote for Pompeyo Family Dogs last time. Personally, we’d like to see the other two acts being Oskar/Gaspar and Colin Cloud. While neither one of them gave perfect performances last night, they’re innovative and bring something different to the competition.

With that being said, we think that America will send Angelina and Greater Works to the live show along with Diavolo and Sara/Hero. This means that five out of seven acts moving forward will involve some sort of singing. Whoa. One thing we do with AGT would do is, even if they’re not going to give non-singers Golden Buzzers, at least give them the promotion at the end of the show. This didn’t happen once during the live shows — while we understand that Darci Lynne isn’t a traditional singer, it’s her singing voice that makes her stand out amidst other ventriloquists.

Will there be a wild card?

Signs point to “yes,” given that there are going to be 21 semifinalists at the end of Wednesday’s show. That means the producers could add one more to get the field to 22 (eleven per show), or they could boost it up to 24 by added three more.
