Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling episode 2: The next move in Lula investigation

Strike: The Cuckoo's Calling episode 2

Following tonight’s premiere, are you engaged enough to enjoy Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling episode 2 on BBC? We certainly hope so.

One other thing that we know is that the network will not be making you wait long in order to check this upcoming episode out. Episode 2 will air Monday at 9:00 p.m. London time, meaning that there’s only a day in between. Given that we’re looking at a three-part event series, we’re not all that shocked by this. It’s a way to keep the momentum going, and for the BBC to see just what sort of hit that they can make of this. (For the record, there is going to be a little more of a wait between the second episode and the grand finale, as that is not set to air until September 3.)

Tonight’s premiere episode provided you with a nice introduction to our main character Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin. These two form a strong partnership, and pursue this season the truth behind what happened to a supermodel named Lula. On episode 2, the two will uncover more clues, while also exploring further who Strike is in the first place. Take a look at the synopsis below for a little more insight.

Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling episode 2 synopsis – “Strike tells the police that the circumstances of Rochelle’s death merit further investigation but is dismissed. He seeks out Lula’s friends, the fashion designer Guy Somé and model Ciara Porter, and learns that Lula was looking for her biological family … More of Strike’s personal history is revealed to Robin when Strike’s half-sister Lucy invades the office.”

Personally, we do think that the series’ biggest challenge is likely just that it’s going to take some time in order for many viewers out there to realize just what this show is and also who it comes from. This was obviously the intent for J.K. Rowling when she came up with the name of Robert Galbraith in the first place; she wasn’t even the person who outed her as the author at first, so it would’ve been interesting to see how long she would’ve kept up that ruse. (Remember, it was only after a few months that it was confirmed that Rowling had written under the Galbraith name.)

We do think that this series is going to be a hit, but it may take some time for more attention to circulate around it. That’s especially true today, given that there are so many other subjects out there making headlines.

One other thing that makes us hopeful about the show’s future is that Galbraith/Rowling already have other novels out there, and there could be a fourth on the way. We wouldn’t mind at all if this becomes a Sherlock sort of tradition where every year there are a few new episodes that make their way out into the universe.
