Will the Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers cast reveal happen soon?

Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers

For everyone out there keeping track (and we know that many of you are), it’s only a little over a month before the return of Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers premieres on CBS. September 27 is the premiere date, and hopefully it will be a great season despite its wonky title that continues to confuse us about which one of those words is supposed to go first.

Now, the larger question here is this: Where is the cast reveal? Last year, the Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X cast was officially announced on August 17, and today is August 21. Still no cast, and very little buzz about when it’s coming out.

Here could be one big reason for this: Last year, Millennials vs. Gen X premiered on Wednesday, September 21 — six days earlier in the month than it is this year. Most of the fall premiere dates for network TV were pushed back this year, which does happen every now and then because otherwise, they would be earlier and earlier every year just because of the way the calendar works.

What matters here is that if we were to assume that the cast reveal will happen at the same point that it did last year in relation to the show’s premiere, there’s a good chance that August 23 (as in Wednesday) could be when the cast comes out. That’s six days later than last year, and it feels about perfect. No guarantees, obviously, but the main purpose of this article is to get your blood pumping as you start to realize that the return of the show really is right around the bend. More than that, the preseason is officially imminent with some good stuff coming in a mere matter of days potentially.

Of course, when the cast reveal does happen, we’ll bring you back the coverage in the same way that we often do: Spotlights, predictions, and all of the other good stuff that you’re going to want to know between now and when the show premieres. That includes our in-season coverage and Survivor exit interviews. We’re certainly excited to get a new batch of castaways out there — even though we do like returning players, there is something about those seasons that often saps the joy out of the game by the end. To us, a big part of it is that these people are so much more self-aware and the competition loses some of its purity and sense of excitement and adventure. Maybe we’re a little old-school in that way — to us, the best seasons of the game are the ones that have great strategy but don’t forget about some of the qualities of the show that were also present during some of the earlier seasons.
