Teen Wolf series finale to be extended episode; remaining schedule
What is a little bit interesting is that even though we’re just now getting into the season, it just so turns out that there’s going to be a short hiatus in between when the next two episodes air and when the final five episodes are going to be coming on MTV.
For more, just take a look at the remaining schedule via Entertainment Weekly.
Sunday, 8/20: Episodes 614, 615 @ 8 p.m., 9 p.m.
Sunday, 8/27: VMAs, NO Teen Wolf
Sunday, 9/3: Episode 616 @ 8 p.m.
Sunday, 9/10: Episode 617 @ 8 p.m.
Sunday, 9/17: Episodes 618, 619 @ 8 p.m., 9 p.m.
Sunday, 9/24: SERIES FINALE AND 100th Episode (50-minute SUPER FINALE) @ 8 p.m.
We do find it reasonably funny that MTV is selling pretty hard that there’s a “super finale” of fifty minutes given that is only eight or so minutes longer than the standard episode. Compare this to a network like FX, who have a ton of episodes with commercials that run this long. (With HBO, of course, almost every episode of Game of Thrones is longer than this.)
It’s ironic that the schedule works out the way it does for MTV because of the presence of Game of Thrones — they are running the VMAs up against the season 7 finale of that show, which seems to be a fairly questionable move. We feel like one of the reasons that Teen Wolf was scheduled when it was at 8:00 was to avoid Game of Thrones, but it’s still going to be thrown against it this Sunday for its second episode — which is also the premiere date for The Last Ship. Basically, this timeslot is TV Armageddon.
What’s coming up the remainder of the series?
Be ready to see so much more of the storyline of the humans versus the hunters, plus also some chances to learn more about these characters and their futures. After everything that they’ve been through fighting for their lives in Beacon Hills, we absolutely do think that they all deserve a chance at happiness and to get off to a much better start.
As for whether or not this is going to happen, though, that is something that does remain to be seen. What we do know is that there are some more returning cast members, including Charlie Carver and Dylan O’Brien. We’re also aware that both Tyler Hoechlin and Dylan O’Brien are both going to be returning in some capacity after having parts in the summer premiere. We’re excited to figure out just what these roles are going to be in the big picture.
