Chicago PD season 5: Jon Seda open to more Brett, Antonio
At the end of the One Chicago franchise last year, these two were clearly on the outs. Antonio was conflicted about the timing of the relationship, given that he had both a family and a different job that he needed to look after. While they both could’ve done some things better, we don’t think things ended with them on such a bitter note that there’s zero chance for a reconciliation down the road, especially if timing is a major factor. Maybe the right timing is coming up!
Luckily, the good news here is that Jon Seda seems to be in agreement on this subject. In a new interview with TVLine, Seda had the following to say on the subject of his character’s future, and where he stands in terms of his relationships right now:
“Antonio’s single. [There is] no one on the horizon that I know of or he knows of. Hey, look, Antonio’s back, she’s there [on Chicago Fire]. I love working with Kara Killmer. We had a great time. I never thought, when it was first talked of, even, that it would be that well-received. I’m just really thankful that the fans liked that. [The producers are] pretty good at doing what the fans want, so we’ll see. I’m totally open to it. If they come to me and say, ‘Do you want to do something in regards to that?’ I’m all for it!”
One of the reasons why we do think that this relationship works as well as it does is because it has that opposites-attract quality to it. You do want to see people come together from different walks of life and figure out a way to make their relationship work, because watching people work thought those challenges and become stronger for it is a hopeful message about working and growing together as a couple. Not many shows out there focusing on that aspect of a relationship these days, and we would like to see more of with this pairing. They were hot and heavy at times, but unfortunately other things got in the way. Plus, this show needs a little bit of romance and hope! Just remember for a second that the vast majority of the series is often gritty, depressing, and dealing with a ton of tough subject matter. A sprinkle of romance here and there gives some of the characters a bit of a softer side and creates some balance.
Given that Chicago Fire and Chicago PD are premiering at around the same time of the season (and Chicago Justice is over), there’s a good chance to make something happen here. We’re going to watch with patience and see if the writers ever decide to make the move, given that we certainly do think there’s plenty of potential here.
