Crime Dynamic Duos: Major Crimes (Sharon / Andy) vs. Homeland (Carrie / Saul)
Throughout the remainder of the month of August, we’ll be featuring showdowns between some of the top pairs across the genre — some are comedic, some are romantic, and all of them are compelling. What’s interesting here is that with Sophia Bush off Chicago PD, there will be a new champion this year. (Lindsay / Halstead) emerged last year as victorious in a showdown again one of the two duos facing off today: Sharon Raydor and Andy Flynn from Major Crimes.
Who moves on to the next round? That’s totally up to you! Check out the poll at the bottom of the article.
Voting Rules – You may vote however much you want within the specified voting window. (The image above explains everything in terms of start and stop dates.) Note that if you are struggling to cast repeat votes, you may need to clear your cache or use a different browser or device. If you are on mobile and you cannot view the poll, scroll to the bottom and click to view the non-AMP version of the page.
Still with us? Let’s dive into the first battle…
Sharon and Andy, Major Crimes (#1 seed) – They are basically anything and everything that you could want from a partnership, both in terms of being great at their jobs at work to being supportive of each other away from it. They may be together as a romantic couple, but the bond that they had extends far beyond when they entered into that relationship. Hopefully they do have a wedding coming up in season 6, but in true show fashion, there’s probably going to be chaos and cases all around it. Hats off to Mary McDonnell and Tony Denison for great performances as always that are real, likable, and relatable.
Carrie and Saul, Homeland (#8 seed) – To say that their relationship is different than that of Sharon and Andy’s is an understatement to end all understatements. They are not romantically intertwined, and beyond that they also happen to have one of the more complicated partnerships out there since they don’t work together as much as they used to and there are serious matters of trust. Yet, when the chips are down Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin’s characters manage to, time and time again, get themselves out of impossible situations and save the better part of the world. They are almost the ideal duo for situations of extreme duress and not often anything else.
