Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Erika Girardi on Eileen Davidson exit

Erika Girardi

If you didn’t hear, Eileen Davidson is departing The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — and in so many ways, we’re still surprised she was ever a part of the show in the first place. Being on a daytime drama is a full-time job, as is doing this show for so many months out of the year. We don’t know how she ever slept, but she effectively did her job on the show and now she’s gone — for now. Bravo could still make some other cast changes (in terms of departures), but we’re not at the point just yet where we will know one way or another.

The uncertain future of the series is something that fellow RHOBH cast member Erika Girardi commented on when discussing Eileen to the network:

“I can’t even confirm whether I’m back, so there you go. But I know that a lot of people are gonna miss Eileen … Eileen is one of the most understanding, kind, and giving human beings I’ve ever met — and what you see on TV is what you get.”

Do we think that Erika will be back? Absolutely she should be. At this point, we consider her to be an anchor on the show alongside the likes of Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards. Her presence drives story, and her over-the-top alter ego Erika Jayne also inspires plenty of fun moments. She is wealthy, entertaining, and has a sense of humor about herself. She is basically a combination of everything that producers look for when casting the show, and she’s also at the height of her fame coming off of Dancing with the Stars this past season.

New episodes of the Beverly Hills series will air presumably a little bit later this year, and we hope to see the show continue to evolve. Last season was far and away better than the one that aired before it, though we do hope that the series moves past its era of allowing someone to pick up a rumor and then dwell on it for a good couple of months. This is something that we saw prominently on this past season with Lisa Rinna and Kim Richards, and we’d be rather happy if the show went in a different direction with its story editing moving forward.

Will there be more Housewives joining the series?

Odds are, the answer to that question is “yes” given the fact that this is such a coveted role for many people, and there is now a spot open with Eileen no longer in the cast. The qualifications for being on this show seem to be fairly simple: You need to be extremely wealthy, to have a number of things that are entertaining about you, and the ability to cause drama at the drop of a hat. There have to be good candidates, right?
