Teen Choice Awards 2017: Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Eliza Taylor up for Sci-Fi / Fantasy actress prize

Yet again, the Sci-Fi / Fantasy category remains one of the most competitive fields out of any category at the Teen Choice Awards, and for good reason. You have so many shows within this group, and most of them appeal to the target demographic. Even with the TCAs moving the superhero shows to the action category this year, there are still options aplenty in here to choose from.

Over the course of this article, the top priority is figuring out which people within the field are the most likely to take some honors home at the end. Take a look at our analysis on the field below, and we want to know your favorites, as well!

How to vote – Just select your favorite in the poll below! You can vote however often you’d like, but you may need to refresh the page in the process. Also note that if you are viewing on an AMP page you may need to click to view the non-AMP version at the bottom of the page. We’ll announce some of the winners among CarterMatt readers on July 15.

Remember, voting here is not official. This is just a fun way to gauge the popularity of the nominees, and if they align with what the Teen Choice Awards voters decide.

The nominees: Choice Sci-Fi / Fantasy Actress

Abigal Spencer, Timeless (NBC)

Eliza Taylor, The 100 (The CW)

Emeraude Toubia, Shadowhunters (Freeform)

Jennifer Morrison, Once Upon a Time (ABC)

Kat Graham, The Vampire Diaries (The CW)

Lana Parrilla, Once Upon a Time (ABC)

Sizing up the field

Another solid, fairly unpredictable field given that there are some shows that could cancel each other out. Also, you have in here the curveball of this being the last year that The Vampire Diaries is eligible — will viewers have forgotten the show, or will they see this as a final chance to pay tribute?

Who will win

At the moment, the easiest pick to go with of the field is Taylor just because fans of The 100 are so passionate and love her work so much. You also cannot rule out Toubia just because the Shadowhunters fandom is so passionate on social media.

With that being said, the one person we’re the most confident in is Jennifer Morrison, who did a magical job over the years playing the part of Emma Swan and we think that with her departure still so fresh, fans will rally for her.

Who should win

We’re partial to Abigail Spencer, a performance we loved so much that we listed her as an Emmy contender for the past year. While you can argue that Timeless is not strictly a teen show, we do think there are plenty of teens out there who watch it. Beyond her, we’d probably also go with Morrison as a tribute to her work.

Who should win the Choice Sci-Fi / Fantasy TV Actor category at the Teen Choice Awards this year?
