The Originals season 4 finale: Is Daniel Gillies leaving?
Vincent had a way! That’s the good news. The bad news is that the consequences were such that it could cause the entire clan to be separated forever. The story, predictably, became more and more crazy over the course of the episode. Rebekah found herself inhabited by The Hollow as we got near the end of the episode; basically, she was someone who made the ultimate sacrifice, taking on the burden and finding yet another way to care for a child that she once helped to raise soon after her birth. She planned to go away in order to keep everyone safe.
In the closing minutes of the episode, Rebekah found herself in New York City far away from everyone. Marcel eventually paid her a visit, which led to the two sharing a kiss. What does the future hold for these two now? Well, consider this your romantic cliffhanger.
Meanwhile, Rebekah was not the only person who chose to offer themselves up as a sacrifice. Elijah told Hayley that their relationship was cursed, and Marcel compelled him to forget his vow of “always and forever” plus everything that went along with it. What followed this was a heck of a powerful montage where all of his memories disintegrated, and Elijah was effectively turned into a shell of his former self.
Is Daniel Gillies leaving? It’s fair to answer the question given that he doesn’t have that tie to the Mikaelsons anymore, but we wouldn’t count on it. At least the guy’s still alive, right?
As for other finale highlights, Kol plotted out a future for himself with Davina (an engagement), while in Mystic Falls we saw the return of Alaric as Hayley brought Hope to the school that he and Caroline founded.
