Shades of Blue season 3: Victor Turpin set to recur

NBC’s Shades of Blue has cast Victor Turpin in a recurring role for the upcoming third season.

According to Deadline, Turpin will join the police drama playing Enrique, the Colombian son of a wealthy member of a drug cartel.

Turpin’s character could add some interesting storytelling. Seeing that the second season ended in a cliffhanger, bring in a story to include the cartel will be an interesting new challenge for the main characters. This could remind fans of when Haylee had a conflict with the mafia when they tried to frame her for murder. Again, it will be interesting to see how the showrunners raise the bar.

The casting of Turpin also pegs the question of how Haylee and her crew will come to be involved with Enrique. How will she meet him if Agent Stahl has kidnapped her? Could Enrique and the cartel be a part of the plot to save her? Or is Agent Stahl connected to the drug cartel? These are questions only time will tell.

Enrique has the potential to be either a friend or a foe to the Street Crimes crew. If he turns out to be someone the crew could form a beneficial relationship with, then maybe this could help to bring Haylee home. If not, then Enrique could be another headache for the crew. Finally, Turpin’s character could just be a background story against the core story of the show, the relationship between the Street Crimes crew and the FBI.

Whoever Enrique turns out to be, his character will no doubt bring the intensity and suspense this show is known for.

Shades of Blue follows Detective Haylee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) who runs with a crew of dirty cops, while simultaneously and reluctantly working with the FBI amid her own financial and family problems.

The NBC show stars Jennifer Lopez, Ray Liotta, Drea de Matteo, Warren Kole, Dayo Okeniyi, Hampton Fluker, Vincent Laresca, Sarah Jeffery, and Gino Anthony Pesi.

The police drama will return to NBC at midseason. More news will hopefully be made available in the months ahead.
