Bachelor in Paradise: Evan Bass, Carly Waddell wedding still happening as planned

Mrs. Carter: Nothing is getting in the way of Evan Bass and Carly Waddell getting married!

Even though Bachelor in Paradise was effectively canceled earlier this month thanks to an ongoing investigation into an incident involving DeMario Jackson and Corinne Olympios, one part of the planned production is still taking place. At some point this season, Evan and Carly (who took part in the show last season and got engaged) were set to go down and get married in front of the entire cast and crew this time. It was a unique chance to celebrate their relationship, but also an opportunity to potentially inspire other people on this show that they can find love, and the relationship can actually work out.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the wedding is still happening this weekend, with cameras being flown out to film the occasion. Bass also wrote a feature piece for the aforementioned publication talking about his experiences and the current investigation; it’s worth a read if you’ve got the time, but he starts it off by talking about all of the wonderful things that the show has brought to him over the past year:

“Bachelor in Paradise is my show. It’s my jam. Personal redemption, lifelong friends and the woman of my dreams are just a few of the many takeaways I found living on set for weeks at the air-condition-less resort. When the news about Paradise production broke the internet, it also broke my heart. While to some it’s a silly TV show, for me, it was an experience that changed my life in unimaginable ways. I am troubled thinking about the allegations happening on my favorite beach, and I’m sad that some couples will not have the opportunity to find love in a powerful and unique way. I can’t help but think about [season-one couple] Jade and Tanner [Tolbert], the fast-approaching birth of their baby and how that beautiful family wouldn’t exist without Paradise. And for me, I will be forever grateful to Paradise for guiding me to an incredible stepmother to my own children.”

Hopefully, the franchise will find a way to televise the Evan – Carly wedding at some point, whether it be as a standalone special or something to air later this year or early next year during The Bachelor proper. The entire future of the show is in some flux, especially given that there is also another series in Bachelor Winter Games is floating around in the ether.

Preemptive congrats to Evan and Carly on their big day! When there is more news to report on Bachelor in Paradise, you can check that out over at the link here. (Photo: ABC.)
