Ratings: America’s Got Talent, World of Dance continue solid numbers
The ratings from last night are in for both shows, and where they stand may have your jaw on the floor.
America’s Got Talent – In this case, the reality competition show drew a very healthy 2.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic for its latest new episode, further ensuring that the show remains tops in terms of summer TV across the board. Until Game of Thrones premieres on HBO this July, there is an expectation that no show is going to come close of taking its crown.
World of Dance – Meanwhile, the Jennifer Lopez competition continues to be the surprise of the summer. The show held onto virtually all of the 1.9 rating that it drew for the prior episode, and we’re starting to think that the decision to cast familiar faces like Fik-Shun and many social-media stars is paying off. It’s almost like seeing some of the best dance personalities in the world actually get a chance to face off in the same venue. It’d be like American Idol / The Voice / X Factor contestants around the world all getting together for a sing-off.
It’s pretty clear at this point that both of these shows will return next summer, likely in this same configuration. While there’s room for World of Dance to decline slightly in the weeks to come given that it’s still a new show, it’s leagues better than we thought it’d be doing at this point when you think for a minute or two about the performance of many other shows as of late.
We’ll see how these two shows continue to fare as the summer progresses, but for now, it doesn’t feel as though there is any other show out there that is generating huge competition.
