Elementary season 6 spoilers: The latest on Sherlock’s head condition
Now, Sherlock entering season 6 is facing a problem where he has a serious brain issue (possibly a tumor), and then also has no one that he can lean on for any support. This is going to eat away at him, especially since there are people who could and would help him.
In previewing what some of this struggle could look like, executive producer Rob Doherty said the following in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“It’s going to create some problems, both personal and professional … For starters, Sherlock made a mistake when he decided to keep his condition from Joan. He’ll have a lot to explain and a lot to make up for. He’ll also find his sobriety regimen ‘competing’ with a regimen designed to address his prognosis. There will be times he’ll question whether he can tackle one problem without succumbing to the other. And, of course, there will be an impact on his work. Sherlock is accustomed to being the finest detective in New York, if not on the planet. But the work won’t come as easily to him when the new season begins. At least not at first. In the meantime, he’ll to have to commit himself to his health and to his partnership in ways that will be very challenging to him.”
The one thing that Sherlock may find harder than committing to treatment is letting go of some of his new deficiencies at work. If there is one thing he takes pride in, it’s his ability to solve cases and be the hero. Without that in his arsenal, this is a man facing his fair share of challenges.
