Shadowhunters season 2 episode 12 spoilers: Clary, Jace get intense

Shadowhunters season 2 episode 12 is airing on Freeform Monday night, and let’s just say there’s some Clary – Jace tension coming. The two parties are still coming to grip with the reveal that Jace is not Valentine’s son, and everything that means. It does set the stage for a possible romance between Jace and Clary down the line, but she’s also with Simon. It’s complicated. Much of the rest of season 2 could have “love triangle” stamped all over it.

The sneak peek below doesn’t necessarily feature Jace and Clary talking about their romantic feelings, but there is a great deal of tension in here from start to finish. The entire video is spent watching the two of them train, while also trying to get a better understanding of those around them. You know you’ve been through a lot when you can have a conversation about a woman who is literally feet away from you, while still acting as though the person is not there at all. Also, they’re talking about such serious stuff while still fighting!

At the end of the sneak preview, there is a moment that is almost straight out of The Matrix — it’s the sort of stuff that gets people excited (and gets ‘shippers to take note, judging from where this preview ends for both Jace and Clary).

If you haven’t seen it yet, here is the synopsis for this episode: “Everything is turned on its head as the demon Azazel remains at large. Meanwhile, Simon asks Isabelle for help.” Obviously, there is a lot going on in this episode that is not mentioned here, especially when it comes to Clary and Luke. They will be having a conversation together soon! This is the foundation for big things to come later this season with these characters. Eventually, there may be so much madness within the Shadowhunters world there there is less time to think about romance … temporarily, anyway. You know that at some point, it’s going to find a way to rise back into the forefront.
