Queen of the South season 2: What are the early ratings expectations?
The biggest thing to note here when it comes to the ratings for the first season is how shockingly consistent that they were from start to finish. From the premiere onward the show never dipped below a million viewers, and averaged steadily around a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The common fear with a show like this is mostly that it will start with great ratings, but those numbers will fade over time and by the end of the season, it will be a shell of its former self. That didn’t happen here.
As a result of all of this, the hope here clearly is that season 2 can deliver numbers that are somewhat similar. There are certainly a few things that the show has going for it, starting with the fact that it is airing at a time in which there isn’t too much competition (at least for now) in Thursday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. Beyond that, it has a story that is addictive, and it treads on some ground that is different than most other shows that are out there on basic cable right now.
Just in case you are planning to watch the show tonight, or are at least interested, the video below may be a little bit of use to you. Consider this a nice season 1 highlight reel, with some of the best, most exciting moments from the first batch of episodes. Sure, it’s not the same as what you’re going to get if you end up watching every episode of the show, but it’s better than nothing and a nice way to prepare for what is coming up down the road.
Before going, take a look at some more details on the premiere episode via USA:
“Teresa brokers a deal with an eccentric smuggler, Camila struggles to rebuild her empire, and Epifanio takes on a new partner he may not be able to control.”
