Young & Hungry season 5 episode 11 return date won’t be until 2018
In a new post on Twitter, Aimee Carrero Rock (Sofia) noted that the second half of the season, which features an appearance from her husband Tim Rock, is not going to air until at some point until 2018. This isn’t altogether shocking given that the first half of season 5 just ended, but there were probably many people out there who wanted to see the show back on the air this fall.
For the time being, the future of Young & Hungry is not set in stone, but there are probably reasons to worry about it much in the way that there are reasons to worry about almost any longrunning Freeform show that took a long break between episodes. When Switched at Birth went off the air for more than a year, it was pretty clear that season 5 was going to be its final season. This is also around the length that many of their shows end — just take a look at Baby Daddy.
If there is one other piece of advice that we can offer up to viewers of the show hoping to see it remain on the air as long as humanly possible, it is this: Watch it live when it returns, and tell everyone close to you to do the same exact thing! One of the things that did hurt the show the most this spring were its ratings — it is averaging only a 0.2 in adults 18-49, which is down more than 25% from the show’s season 4 ratings. In total viewers, it is averaging slightly under 420,000, which is also a similar drop from the season prior (think around 24%).
There is still hope for the show’s future, but you want to get the word out — and continue to get the word out — over the coming weeks and months. Here’s a pro tip: Get your friends to start watching the first four seasons on Netflix. They’ve got plenty of time to do that, and if they watch the show for that long they’re liable to be hooked enough to want to check it out live.
