Poldark season 3: Aidan Turner spills further filming facts

filming facts

One of the great things about radio interviews in Britain as opposed to radio interviews in America is that you do get a concentrated sense that Britain still recognizes radio as an art form. They concentrate on delivering great, insightful discussions as opposed to silly gotcha questions, fart noises, and questions about intimate details about someone’s personal lives.

With this in mind, let us present a rather delightful little interview snippet featuring Poldark star Aidan Turner, where he shares some filming facts on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show. There is a little bit of personal talk, but it’s all fun and lighthearted as Turner discusses the relationship with his parents, and how his mother (an accountant) may be pulling some tricks with his money. (Given the frequent financial fortunes of one Ross Poldark, the joke comes across even funnier in this context.)

As for filming, Turner started things off with a discussion of filming in Cornwall, and how for the first couple of months it’s wonderful before things slowly and surely start to trickle off of a cliff:

“It’s really nice! Stunning. September, October, really good. After that, all bets are off … Pickup [shoots] in February, complete disaster. The whole place is a swamp (laughs).”

If you are someone who doesn’t quite know much about the world of filming, there are many other takeaways from this little interview since he goes into the work necessary in order to pull off an elaborate period drama, and also how he and his co-star Eleanor Tomlinson often “set the tone” for the production and are looked at as a form of leadership at this point into the show’s run. Given that this is season 3, it’s fairly easy to understand why this could be thought of as important since the show is now established, and there is a clear rapport that Turner and Tomlinson now have with the cast and the crew. They’ve gotten to know them so well over the years!

If nothing else, think of this clip as a nice way to get a laugh as you move your way through what is hopefully a fun weekend.
