Is Blue Bloods new tonight? What season 8 premiere should accomplish
Luckily, the series with Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg will return this fall, and there are more opportunities to tell compelling stories! For the sake of this article, the focus is to emphasize a few things that should be coming up within the first hour of the show, whenever that may be.
1. Danny’s new home – Either he finds a way to rebuild, or he and Linda get a new property to call home following the horrendous fire that served as a source of great trauma in the finale.
2. Eddie’s back – Don’t waste any more time bringing Vanessa Ray back into the forefront. She will be returning next season despite being missing from the final episodes; through that, hopefully there will be further opportunities to dive into her relationship with Jamie — if it can turn romantic and stay that way for good.
3. Meeting the new Mayor – The final enormous priority for the show should be hiring another person to serve as a formidable rival to Frank Reagan, albeit in a different way than Mayor Poole. Make this person a significant recurring player in the show; the biggest issue for Poole was that David Ramsey was contractually-bound elsewhere and could only turn up for an episode or two at most a season.
As for the case-of-the-week plots, that’s something to leave more to the writers, though bringing forward some sort of change in Erin’s personal life would also be appealing. The show proves time and time again with her that she is a fantastic prosecutor, but exploring some further aspects of her life could be something worthy of a little bit more discussion over the coming weeks. Hopefully, the series chooses to focus more on that — and personal stories for everyone, for that matter.
