Supergirl season 2 episode 21 spoilers: Cat Grant, the President return

Supergirl season 2 episode 21

Moving into Supergirl season 2 episode 21, it feels clear already that there are going to be some fairly serious political undertones. How else are you meant to take a story entitled “Resist” (a common word to describe the movement against Donald Trump) airing one week before the finale entitled “Nevertheless, She Persisted”? The latter statement is of course a reference to comments made about Elizabeth Warren, and we wonder if in general the show is plotting somewhat of a change of course with Lynda Carter and her character of President Marsdin.

When we first met Marsdin at the start of the season, we thought of her more as a heroic figure. Now, we wonder if the show is plotting a heel-turn in the wake of political headlines with these episode titles, and the fact that she didn’t want Supergirl to engage with Rhea upon her initial arrival to National City earlier this season. The information that we have for you below suggests further that things could be coming to a head before too long.

Supergirl season 2 episode 21 synopsis – “Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) grapples with whether or not to obey the President’s (guest star Lynda Carter) orders regarding Rhea’s (guest star Teri Hatcher) latest actions. Meanwhile, Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) returns to National City.”

So what is Cat looking for? It’s possible that she’s done seeing the world and wants to lead CatCo again, or she has some important decisions to make regarding the future of the company that she effectively build from the ground up. This is the sort of thing we probably won’t know until the episode airs, but all evidence points to her having a big role as we get to the end of this season.

Meanwhile, it’s also worth noting that this episode will also lead into the return of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman in the finale. It’s not certain precisely how he will be turning up, but we anticipate that he will have a role to play in stopping Rhea in some capacity.
