First Big Brother 19 promo gives comedy, tears, and more
The video below from CBS doesn’t give you ANY clues at all about the upcoming season — odds are, that’s not something that is in the cards for many more weeks. Nonetheless, within this video you get a wide array of indications as to what the network wants to promote in between Paulie crying, Da’Vonne confessionals, wipeouts, and of course abs and bikinis. This is the ultimate casual promo if you ever saw one, since it’s meant mostly to appeal to regular viewers who are already planning to watch the show. They don’t care as much about the hardcore fans in this instance, since there is certainly an awareness that the majority of these people are going to watch live without hesitation.
Now if we were to say now in advance what we’d like to see, fingers crossed for all new players for the most part. In between this season up in Canada and then the four returnees in Big Brother 18, the time feels right for us to get a little bit of new blood. Meanwhile, having two seasons of Survivor out of the past four feature returnees also gives us some burnout. We do think that newbies is a better way to attract new viewers since you may find people who relate to certain corners of America you weren’t reaching before. Maybe you can throw someone like an Alex or Justin from Big Brother OTT in there, but beyond that we don’t see a need for anyone else.
Also, fingers crossed for a reasonably straightforward game that relies mostly on what makes the show different and better than most others that are out there: Relationships. You get to see a unique dynamic play out over the course of many weeks, and the ebb and flow of people that you just don’t get anywhere else. It’s exciting, and a huge part of the fabric as to what makes this show great.
