Outlander notes: More on Jamie Fraser, Sam Heughan, and dogs

Jamie Fraser

Today’s edition of Outlander notes begins with a bit of an echo to what we had over the weekend with the birthday of one Sam Heughan. Today, we’re sharing a happy belated birthday to one Jamie Fraser! Sure, he may be fictional, but he’s real in all of our hearts and minds.

Sure, at this point he may be centuries old, and maybe there is a part of us that is curious as to what Jamie would be like if he was transported to the present day. Maybe. Here’s to hoping for a few happy Jamie moments on season 3! We’ve at least got Print Shop to look forward to, right?

Aside from Jamie, we’ve also got another new photo below from series star Caitriona Balfe related to her co-star’s birthday over the weekend. Hopefully, he had a good chance to rest and enjoy some of his time while working on the show in South Africa. They’ve still got around a month, give or take, to go until filming is wrapped.

More about the dogs

Yesterday, we discussed briefly the two dogs who are going to be playing Rollo, Young Ian’s trusted pooch, on the upcoming fourth season of Outlander. You can view a photo of them over at the link here; today, we’ve got a few more thoughts from author Diana Gabaldon on the first “casting” for the season.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the woman behind the entire franchise said the following about how these two could be perfect for capturing the full essence that is Rollo:

“They look cute, but tough. They should be just right to play Rollo when the time comes … They’d need to growl and look menacing on command, I think, and carry back prey of one kind or another to their master. I assume they wouldn’t let them catch things on camera … especially fish, of course.”

The writers’ strike is over!

In case you missed the news, this further ensures that a lengthy strike will not interfere with an Outlander season 4 — provided that everything passes as expected, it will continue to be all systems go as we get closer and closer to the fourth season starting up later this year. It’s a little too early for now to offer up any potential dates.

As always, we welcome some of your thoughts regarding this new Outlander story in the comments. (Photo: Starz.)
