Feud: Bette & Joan finale spoilers: A time for reflection
As for how the series is going to end … well, there are only so many ways things can. These two women spent much of the latter portion of their career fighting with each other, and now that they’ve gotten a chance to near the setting of the sun, they’re taking a moment here or there to start assessing some of the damage.
The title for this final episode is “You Meal All This Time We Could Have Been Friends?” — seeing that alone should tell you just about everything that you really need to know about the product. The synopsis below, meanwhile, is a good indication of what you can expect to see.
Feud: Bette & Joan synopsis – “Joan accepts a leading role on a new film despite her deteriorating health. Later: Faced with a new rival, Bette reflects on her misplaced feud with Joan.”
At this point, it feels almost like a given that there will be more powerful writing in here, and also performances from Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon that are pretty top-notch from start to finish. The one big of bad news is that if the two women come back for season 2, they’ll have to find new roles — and on a setting that is on an entirely different continent. The upcoming season is going be about Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and we have a feeling that things are going to be complicated and emotional in their own right.
Before we get to that, though (whenever that second season does air), we still have one more episode to get to. Let’s hope that this conclusive is both interesting and informative — it may not be a perfect reflecting of the lives of Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, but it’s as good of a recreation as you’re going to get for TV.
