Hap and Leonard season 2 episode 4: Sorting through the aftermath
Unfortunately, in the process what we’re also seeing this season is the two guys struggling to find a way to steer clear of trouble. Take, for example, Hap roughing up Judge Otis, taking advantage of an opportunity to fight back against the man responsible for ruining his childhood and taking his father away. Meanwhile, Leonard’s taken justice into his own hands when it comes to the neighborhood. That scene with the fire at the end of the hour is testament to precisely this.
Everything now is building towards “Bad Mojo,” an episode where the two have to move forward and keep Leonard out of jail … even if he is actually guilty of something now.
Hap and Leonard season 2 episode 4 synopsis – “Hap and Leonard deal with the repercussions of their crimes. They split up to cover more ground and stumble upon a violent secret.”
What’s been great about this season is watching these two friends further find themselves as something more than they ever imagined. They are empowered, and that is something that produces both great results and also tremendous risk. They are capable of so much more than they were at the start of the series; unfortunately, at the same time they find themselves willing to put it all on the line far more than they were previously. This makes matters more difficult for Florida, as she tries to figure out a way to keep Leonard out of jail.
Granted, Florida’s entire mission may be somewhat complicated now by her relationship with Hap. The two getting together could be a distraction — we certainly don’t see it motivating her more, since she was already hell-bent on making sure that Leonard got off without a guilty verdict. Also, she’s invested because of Uncle Chester and his role in the progression of her life.
