Marvel’s The Defenders wraps up production
In a post on Instagram from the makeup team responsible for working on the show, it’s been officially confirmed that filming for The Defenders season 1 is complete. Production has been underway for many months, and what we’ve been waiting to see is getting to the big milestone where we move into post-production. This means that the editing, the sound-mixing, the ADR work, and everything else for the show can get underway and polished up. Netflix shows are a little bit different than the typical broadcast model, where you don’t have to have all of the episodes ready at the start of the season, which is why it’s integral that filming ends so early. That’s especially true for a show with this many special effects.
There’s no official start date yet for The Defenders, but our sentiment here is that you are going to be able to check things out at some point in the fall.
Beyond this show coming on the air, we know that the Marvel – Netflix universe does still have several other great things in the works. It’s been said that Jessica Jones season 2 will begin shortly after The Defenders (been a long time since we’ve had new episodes of that!), and should premiere at some point in 2018. Beyond that, you also have confirmed a third season of Daredevil, a second season of Luke Cage, and then also the spin-off The Punisher that’s been worked on in some capacity for a while now. The future for Iron Fist specifically is unclear, but we’re assuming that even in spite of negative reviews (which we have a hard time understanding since we love it), the Finn Jones series is going to get a chance to shine again with another batch of episodes. That decision could be made over the coming months — as soon as we know more in regards to the show’s future, we’re going to let you know here.
