The Walking Dead season 7, episode 12 preview: The Rick – Michonne gun hunt
Here is the main issue — it’s one thing to talk about finding guns. It’s another thing to actually do it. In the sneak peek below, the two parties find a place that, per Rick’s own research (which may just mean him looking at bullets), could have the ammunition that he so seeks. Unfortunately, there are also walkers. This story should mark one of the first opportunities in a bit to see a significant walker threat, though it’s probably not THAT significant. Could you imagine spending so much time dealing with Negan only to be bitten by a walker and losing everything? It would be such a terrible way to go, but it would be realistic. People get complacent, especially if they are used to dispatching of these zombies so easily.
While we fully expect Richonne to fully scout the location as well as they can. odds are, they’ll come up empty or at least partially-empty in their search. If they were to find guns so easily, wouldn’t it eliminate much of the dramatic tension when it comes to Tara? They want to push this character towards an endgame where she admits to what happened in Oceanside. We like to think of the photo over here as evidence that the reveal is coming, and as a result of that, we’re going to hold out hope that it happens soon. The longer that they wait, the more it will feel like an afterthought when it could’ve easily been a really interesting story otherwise.
There are still four more episodes to come after this one airs; here’s to hoping that the final two are some enormous, sprawling fight that pits the majority of the communities of the world against the Saviors, and Rick finds a way to come out of the ashes in one piece.
