Arrow season 5, episode 15 preview: Oliver Queen impeachment chatter heats up
Is an Oliver Queen impeachment vote coming? That’s something that Stephen Amell’s character faces in the latest Arrow episode.
Tonight’s episode, entitled “Fighting Fire with Fire,” is going to be the toughest test to date for Oliver as the Mayor given that the cover-up over Detective Billy Malone’s death is going to potentially land him in so much more hot water than he’s been in to date. He faces the chance of losing his office, and he needs to scramble to figure out how to make things right.
In this preview below, you can see Oliver talking over the issue with his team, and he seems to think that the only way to handle the problem is using relative honesty. Specifically, doing what he did to get the Anti-Crime Unit off of the Green Arrow’s back. Say that the cover-up was well-intended, and try to get everyone back slowly on his side. Unfortunately, that may not help given that the perception is that the Mayor of the city should be honest.
What’s also worth noting here is Adrian Chase trying to tender his resignation, mostly because of his role in the cover-up. He recognizes that this could save Oliver’s job, but he refuses to accept it. The question that we’ve got is a simple one: How does this scene lead to Vigilante a.k.a. Chase coming after Oliver? He already knew of his corruption given that he did the cover-up in the first place, so why attack him now? Something else must happen between this scene and the attack for Vigilante to officially turn on his boss over at this day job.
As much as we’ve enjoyed Vigilante, we do hope that tonight starts to wrap that story up. Prometheus is still out there, and we need to start getting closer to figuring out who he is and precisely how to stop him.
