Ready to watch ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’? Is Tom Keen Raymond Reddington’s protegee?
On Thursday night, after “The Blacklist,” a new show will be introduced to the fans of Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington. A highly anticipated spin-off, “The Blacklist: Redemption” entices viewers of the first show to tune in to the new series. With a primarily character moving forward, Tom Keen (played by Ryan Eggold) is looking to continue his work before marrying Liz. Recruited by a mercenary chief to find and rescue a kidnapped CIA agent, Tom will have his hands full in the series premiere.
What makes “The Blacklist” stand out is the intricate details that each character is offered. As a huge fan of the show, it’s obvious the writers have taken the time to develop the characters to a level rarely seen on television. Viewers appreciate the twists and turns of every episode.
Reflecting on “The Blacklist,” the characters all have their own telling moments. It is Reddington who offers up some random story before impressing upon his acquaintance the importance of following his directive (or meeting a bullet.) Liz reminds herself on a continuous basis of her decision of being on the good team (while being chased by the bad guys). And she now has a bigger reason to find the evil with her daughter.
What about Tom Keen? This character has always been in the gray area. Willing to do as needed for his family, he’s not below cleaning up a situation. This character is willing to go all out and he’s willing to push back when it comes to engaging with Raymond Reddington. Tom Keen is a chameleon who can conquer any situation (and he’s proved it on “The Blacklist”)
On “The Blacklist” Tom Keen has come so far. Introduced to the viewers as a simple 4th grade school teacher, his beginning was benign. As a viewer, it’s obvious to the viewers that over the years, he’s become Red Reddington’s unofficial protegee. The decision by the producers to move his character to a new show is epic. That doesn’t mean he’ll be done for good on the first show, but definitely a double-gift to viewers. His story pushes on in a new way (and both shows should be equally as entertaining).
Why would you want to check out “The Blacklist: Redemption”? Tom Keen is thrilling. He has the amazing ability to take out the bad guys with extraordinary precision. Watching “The Blacklist: Redemption” will have you on the edge of your seats.
