The ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ trailer is here with Jessica Lange, Susan Sarandon

Feud -

There are few shows to get as excited about as “Feud: Bette and Joan” on FX, and for good reason: This is a show that looks to be bringing everything to the table that you could possibly want given the premise. You’ve got Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon first and foremost as the stars, and you’ve also got them playing OTHER stars in Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. The two are going to be chronicling the one time that the two well-known adversaries worked together on the film “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” — and precisely how that didn’t go all that well.

If you watched “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” then you know that executive producer Ryan Murphy along with many of his fellow writers can tell stories that are rooted in realism. However, at the same time we’ve seen from shows like “Glee” and “Scream Queens” that he plays very well within the world of snark and sarcasm. This new show, when mixed with all of the others, feels like the perfect cocktail of everything that he’s done over the years. It seems like it’s going to be fun at times, and gut-wrenching and heartbreaking at others.

Also, we feel like you can go ahead and write in both Lange and Sarandon as contenders for the Emmys later this year. They are two big-time movie stars appearing on a top-level TV show produced by a guy who has won a ton of trophies already. All of this seems to line up very well and the performances are exceptional in the trailer itself.

Beyond this season, we also certainly imagine that there are going to be some further famous feuds that get chronicled over time, depending of course on what the ratings are this time around. The biggest thing going for the show is that there are positive reviews already coming in, and that should give people out there a good idea that this is worth their time, and could be their “American Crime Story” replacement given that this show is not on the air again until 2018.
