‘Saturday Night Live’: Rosie O’Donnell shows off her Steve Bannon transformation
With this, we present the photo below, which was clearly made to show precisely how Rosie could play the part. This is a very clear reminder that visually, she could pull this off; we already know that Rosie can in terms of performance.
In the end, though, we do think that one of the most appealing things about Rosie potentially playing Bannon — at least for her — is the sole fact that it would get a rise out of President Donald Trump in a way that few other things would. Just remember for a minute some of the terrible things that Trump has said about O’Donnell over the years, dating back even to her first stint on “The View.” They hate each other, and they’ve made that sentiment very much clear over time. He already hates what “SNL” is doing when it comes to Alec Baldwin’s impression of him.
How can the show reconcile their actions? – One of the biggest criticisms that we’ve heard of “SNL” as of late is that they are opportunistic in their satire. While they’re drawing some of their best ratings in YEARS for this season, this is the same show that hired Trump last season and benefited from many of his own supporters watching.
Ultimately, our response to this question is simple: Blame NBC, but don’t blame the show. We don’t think that the writers and the cast members advocated for a Trump show. Politics aside, it was terrible, and we did not get the sense that there were many people who were all that happy to be there.
We’ll see what happens with Bannon over the weekend. For now, Mikey Day has the role of Bannon, which he is playing by dressing up as the Grim Reaper in a spooky mask.
