‘Ransom’ episode 6 preview: ‘Celina,’ and the latest ratings update
Through these “Ransom” articles that we’re publishing every week here at CarterMatt, we’ve got two separate goals: Keeping you up to date as to what’s going on with the CBS series, while at the same time also letting you know about its odds of getting another season down the road. It’s a show that brings on paper the sort of television that its network loves, but it’s also saddled with an almost-impossible timeslot.
Before diving into the ratings further, though, let’s take a look at “Celina,” the episode that you’re going to get a chance to check out in full in one week’s time.
Synopsis – “The clock is ticking when a French couple hires Eric and his team to rescue their kidnapped baby surrogate who has a dangerous condition and needs immediate medical care.”
As you can see here, this is a race against time for Eric more so than any other that they’ve faced this season. Not only do you have a rescue mission, but at the same time it’s with a baby who cannot protect themselves by any means. You could say that the pressure’s on here, but there is no better team to properly deal with this.
Ratings update – Last week’s new episode drew in total a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, down ever so slightly from the one that aired the week before. The show is still getting more than three million viewers, and what this tells us for the most part is that, much like many other CBS shows, “Ransom” is skewing fairly older. While we think that these numbers on a Saturday are worthy of some recognition, the renewal likely is dictated on if they can hold firm around this throughout the remainder of the season.
Given that there are other networks worldwide who help foot the bill on the show, we do stand behind the claim that the expectations here are so much lower than they are anywhere else. We just have to wait and see come May if it is enough to matter.
