TV Quick Hits: ’24: Legacy’ gets ‘Longmire’ alum; ‘Nashville’ aftershow; ‘Charmed’ prequel talk

24 -It’s been a little while since we’ve had an edition of TV Quick Hits at the site, though one of the bigger reasons for that is simply because of the fact that there hasn’t been all that much to report on over the holidays. It’s back now, and we imagine that there will be many more of these over the weeks ahead.

24: Legacy” and its latest get – According to a report from Deadline, Gerald McRaney — an outstanding character actor known for roles on “Longmire,” “This Is Us,” “House of Cards,” and many others — is going to be a series regular coming up now on the continuation of the Fox franchise. His name is Henry Donovan, and he is the father of Jimmy Smits’ character of John Donovan, a powerful man with aspirations of becoming President of the United States. His wife is played by Miranda Otto, and she has connections to the CTU.

The revival is going to be premiering in the weeks ahead, with Corey Hawkins’ Eric Carter effectively serving as the new Jack Bauer.

Nashville” will have an aftershow – Let’s just hope you’ll be around via Facebook to watch it. CMT will have the show, entitled “Nashchat” and hosted by Amy Brown, online starting at 11:00 p.m. Eastern time. Chris Carmack will be the first guest.

In a statement, CMT head Brian Philips had the following to say about the move:

“Fans saved Nashville. Now we’re inviting fans into our living room to celebrate the characters, stories and music they love … With Nashchat, we’ll create a home across all social media culminating with a Facebook Live interactive recap and fan chat immediately following new episodes.”

A “Charmed” prequel? – While this is not confirmed, Season Zero is claiming that Jennie Synder Urman (“Jane the Virgin”) and Brad Silverman are working on a project for The CW that could serve as a prequel to the long-running hit. We’ll wait and see if there are some further details about it in due time, but it’s definitely something to be aware of.
