‘The Voice UK’ video: See Jennifer Hudson in group ‘Under Pressure’ performance
No matter what country you’re located in, there is a tradition that “The Voice” has by and large: Having a group performance featuring many of the coaches at the start of the season.
For the upcoming season of “The Voice UK,” what we’re going to see at the jump of it is a group performance of “Under Pressure” featuring Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am, and the two newest coaches to the mix in Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson and Gavin Rossdale of Bush fame. These two bring very different musical styles and sensibilities, but they are both excellent at what they do.
We have to admit that before listening to part of the performance below (via the Radio Times), we were very much nervous as to how this was going to sound. After all, these are four people with very different voices and musical sensibilities. There was a reasonably good chance that this wouldn’t work out at all and crash completely to earth. Yet, it doesn’t do that. The vocal blend here is actually really nice, and it probably also helps that they are performing a song here that we happen to really love.
Now, we just have to wait and see what changes come with the show’s move to ITV, and if they can have a show this season that is not only entertaining (something that they’ve always succeeded with), but one that could end up producing some sort of memorable talent at the end of it. We’ll be around with some assorted coverage over the course of the season, so we’re looking forward to some opportunities to further assess this moving forward.
