‘Sherlock’ season 4 teaser creates Moriarty paranoia anew
What are the plans for Moriarty on “Sherlock” moving forward? This is a common question, but it is one that we especially could end up seeing some people freaking out about further after watching the latest teaser for the new season below.
This one is fairly self-explanatory given that you’ve got the “miss me?” written across what seems to be a digital billboard for the series, one that eventually gives way to a sight of the show’s signature villain before reminding you that the series is going to be premiering in full on Sunday.
Does this teaser actually mean that Moriarty is (somehow) back? As much as we wish that it could be so, odds are this is not trying to signal such a return in the slightest. Instead, the better way to look at this at present is that it could be a scheme from beyond the grave or a construction may new Big Bad Culverton Smith (Toby Jones), who could be one of the most nefarious foes we’ve seen our title sleuth encounter over the course of the series’ run.
Of, we do think you also just have to explore the possibility that this could just be a clever way for the show to try to convince people to check it out when it premieres in the new season, and that there is nothing more substantial here happening at all. We’re sure that there are some people out there who would view such an idea as incredibly cruel, but hey, sometimes in marketing you gotta take risks! Ultimately, though, we don’t necessarily think that “Sherlock” really has to do all that much in order to convince people to watch. It’s “Sherlock”! As it is, it’s one of the most excited scripted series out there.
