‘Chicago Fire’ season 5: First news on Severide-centric ‘Chicago PD’ crossover
If you love “Chicago Fire,” and in particular love the character of Kelly Severide, we have a feeling that you are not going to want to miss the next new episode of the show airing on January 3. This kicks off a two-part crossover event where you are going to see his future get thrown into jeopardy, and it is all thanks to a dramatic chain of events. It’s a chance to see Taylor Kinney front and center for a substantial chunk of time — we don’t want to give too much away, but it could be one of his finest performances on the show so far.
As you prepare to check this one out, what we can offer you below are some of the first official synopses for the episodes as released by NBC. These give you details about not only the crossover components of the episodes, but also some big developments that are going to be happening — especially when it comes to the aftermath of Casey and Dawson being greeted by Louie’s biological father at the end of the 100th episode (you can see more on that by reading our review for that episode over here).
“Chicago Fire” 5×09 (“Some Make It, Some Don’t”) – “Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) deal with legal matters in hopes of remaining Louie’s legal guardians. Severide (Taylor Kinney) continues in his efforts for a bone marrow procedure to help Anna (guest star Charlotte Sullivan), but when things don’t go as planned, he finds himself slipping back into old habits. Meanwhile, Brett (Kara Killmer) opens up to Dawson and members of Firehouse 51 become competitive, much to the dismay of Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker). David Eigenberg, Miranda Rae Mayo, Yuri Sardarov, Joe Minoso and Christian Stolte also star. Marlyne Barrett and Jeff Hephner also guest star.”
“Chicago PD” 4×09 (“Don’t Bury This Case”) – “Severide (guest star Taylor Kinney) is brought into the District for questioning after his car is found to have caused a deadly crash. As the investigation gets underway, the team works to uncover a group of car-jackers who may be the key to Severide’s innocence. Meanwhile, Voight (Jason Beghe) pairs Burgess (Marina Squerciati) with Olinsky (Elias Koteas), who has a hard time feigning his excitement about this new partnership, and Lindsay (Sophia Bush) considers meeting her estranged father who is now out of prison. Also starring Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins and Amy Morton. Guest starring Jesse Spencer, Christian Stolte and Sasha Smith.”
By the end of this episode, be prepared for a few things to be different for some of the characters in the immediate future — especially for Severide in the aftermath of whatever he goes through here.
Hopefully, we’ll have a promo or something greater to report on when it comes to these episodes in the near future. For now, our simple advice is to simply stay tuned! (Photo: NBC.)
