‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ – Donald Trump debate (somehow) becomes even more complicated

Celebrity -Is there really a battle of “he said, she said” going on when it comes to Donald Trump’s actual role on “The Celebrity Apprentice“? It certainly feels that way now, which is why we’re going to try to restore even just the smallest amount of clarity to all of this mess.

Let’s start with Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, who said on Friday that the President-elect will take on any potential gig in his “spare time,” and compared to a hobby such as what President Barack Obama does with golfing. However, since then Trump has come out with a little bit of a Twitter rant (see below) claiming that he will devote “zero time” to doing the show and that CNN is producing “fake news” for saying otherwise.

What makes this entire assertion so bizarre on Trump’s behalf is that in calling CNN “fake news,” he’s essentially bashing his own former campaign manager Conway, who gave them a reason to believe that he will have some sort of active role on the show. If they can’t believe one of his own known advisers, who could they believe?

Ultimately, we think that Conway may have just exaggerated Trump’s role in the show for whatever reason, since this is what we’ve long suspected it to be: It’s a credit by name and name only. The entire season filmed long ago, and we cannot imagine Trump sitting in the edit bay working on new episodes. He’s responsible for helping to make the franchise into what it is, and as a result of that, he’s getting a credit for it and a little bit of money. Maybe he talked to a person or two at one point, but that’s almost surely it.

Is his association with the show still enough to probably turn some people off? Probably, and we wouldn’t blame anyone out there who felt that way. Even a credit may be too much for some people who are unhappy with Trump. We just don’t want people to believe that his role is different than what it is; through all the bluster and the various reports, doesn’t the truth matter?

There is a part of us that does wish there was no Trump associated with the show just because the game of “The Celebrity Apprentice” is silly and very entertaining, and we hate that it’s being muddied up in politics.
