‘The Flash’ season 3, episode 9 video: Could Savitar destroy Barry and Iris?

Savitar -

Are we worried about the fate of Iris West on “The Flash” moving into next week’s winter finale? We have to admit that we’re starting to be for a pair of very simple reasons. First, this is a character who judging from the flash-forward with the newspaper during the “Invasion!” crossover last night, is no longer confirmed to be alive to write that headline. Also, in the previous timeline Alchemy and Savitar were potentially not around. We didn’t see either one of them, so maybe that threat wasn’t anywhere near as present.

In the promo below, you absolutely do get the sense that danger could be coming right to WestAllen, who are otherwise trying to enjoy his new apartment and the holiday season together. That cannot be easy when they’ve got this sort of threat breathing down their neck.

Luckily, it does look like Barry is going to have some sort of help courtesy of Jay Garrick! John Wesley Shipp will be coming over from Earth-3 to reprise this role, and that should be useful given the assumption that this Flash has fought a multitude of villains over the years. Hopefully this isn’t a cue for Jay getting killed off, given that there’s only so many times we can afford to watch Shipp die on this show.

Elsewhere, we’re going to have another chance to see Doctor Alchemy, and ultimately in the process start to understand a little bit more of what’s going on with Julian Albert in relation to the character. It wasn’t any shock to learn that he was behind the mask, but at the same time, it does seem as though he’s doing it willingly. Does he become someone different when he wear sit? There are SO MANY QUESTIONS. Unfortunately, after this episode airs, you’ll be waiting until next year before you start to get anything resembling concrete answers.
