NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results preview: #VoiceSave potentially needed for Aaron Gibson, Courtney Harrell
Tonight, we could end up seeing a reasonably-predictable results show on “The Voice” based on some of the iTunes results we’re seeing as of 11:30 a.m. Pacific time. Based on them and them alone, Aaron Gibson could find himself in need of the #VoiceSave for the third straight week.
As of right now, the only person who is lower on this list is Courtney Harrell, whose version of “If I Could Turn Back Time” by Cher landed outside of the top 100. Does that guarantee that she will be in contention for the Save? Hardly. We saw last week with Darby Walker going home that people who perform reasonably well on iTunes (but still outside the top 20) can be in jeopardy, and Courtney’s never needed the Save before even though many of her performances have fallen lower on the charts. Consider this the Blake Shelton bump.
Speaking of Blake, there is a slight reason to worry about another one of his artists in Austin Allsup given where he’s currently placing on the list. The same goes for Josh Gallagher. Both of these guys are in the #40-#45 range, and in past weeks that’d probably give them relative safety; it’s a little different this week with so many people in the top 10.
Given that there are three people who will be competing for the Save tonight, it’s a little bit of a different situation than we’ve seen as of late. Our guess is that we are going to see Courtney, Aaron, and Josh competing for it tonight, and we actually think it’s pretty possible that Aaron lives to see another week. He’s got a great social-media-friendly audience, and it helps that he has Miley Cyrus has a coach and she has an enormous army of her own.
