‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 11 (fall finale): Will Barbara tell Nygma the truth?
Sure, it may be very easy to refer to Barbara Kean on “Gotham” as a complete crazy-person, but she does know her stuff, and there is certainly something beneficial that comes out of having an extremely diabolical mind. For the latest example of that, you don’t really have to look any further than the latest sneak peek from Monday night’s fall finale.
In the video sneak peek below (first posted by TVLine), you can see Barbara make it very clear to Edward Nygma that it was Oswald that killed his love Isabella … and also why. Erin Richards’ performance in this scene is fantastic in how she leads Nygma slowly in to realizing that Oswald had a very clear motive to get rid of Isabella, and it was one of the “oldest” motives out there. Love is a very powerful tool, and there are quite a few things that people are going to be willing to do for it.
So what is Ed going to do about this? That’s a great question leading not into just the rest of the fall finale, but ultimately the remainder of this season given that we more than expect this to stay a fixture for the show for quite some time. If Ed really wants to kill Oswald out of revenge, the best thing that he can do is remain close to him and keep him completely unaware of what he knows. However, maybe he just wants to bolt the situation altogether, given that he could feasibly blame himself for being so blind to how this situation could happen.
Think about this story through this particular lens for a moment: Herein lies a man who is known as exceptional in so many things, and yet at the same time his intelligence completely failed him in trying to realize one of the most blatant truths that lied right before his eyes.
