‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: Rumer Willis set to collaborate with Jamal

Empire -A mere matter of hours before Fox’s “Empire” airs its newest episode entitled “Chimes at Midnight,” we’ve got some additional news coming in when it comes to casting: Rumer Willis will be jumping aboard the series!

Per a report from Deadline, the actress — who recently won “Dancing with the Stars” and also appeared on “Pretty Little Liars” — is going to be taking on the role of Tory Ash, a singer-songwriter who finds herself in the unique position of collaborator to one Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett). He’s working on a new music project, one that he personally believes is going to be one of the most significant in the history of his entire career.

We’d say at the moment that Jamal is absolutely in need of some better collaborators, given that on this past episode we effectively saw him in a situation where his brother became nasty with him just because he didn’t want every one of their projects together to include some sort of clap-back. Also, look at some of the other people in Jamal’s life. Notably, Lucious is terrible. He’s not exactly the sort of person you want to spend muchl of your time with, provided that your main goal is hoping that you keep some essence of yourself.

While “Empire” does remain an enormous hit for Fox, at the same time you do have to remember here that it’s losing a little bit of steam. It’s in danger of falling behind NBC’s “This Is Us” soon as one of the biggest scripted hits out there, so it needs to find some other stories to further boost up its profile and build a little bit of buzz. Maybe getting Willis on board for an interesting role is one of the ways to give it that boost.
