‘Teen Wolf’ season 6 spoilers: Show boss on Dylan O’Brien’s schedule difficulties
How much of Dylan O’Brien was “Teen Wolf” able to put out into the universe for the upcoming sixth season of the show? We knew that his role was going to be limited for a number of reasons, and as it turns out, the show was not exactly blindsided by it, either.
Speaking per TVLine setting up the show’s return on Tuesday night, executive producer Jeff Davis made it clear that the whole story about Stiles being wiped off of the map in Beacon Hills was largely based out of how much they were going to have the actor around:
“We approached this season with the knowledge that we’d have limited access to Dylan O’Brien because of his burgeoning movie career, and thinking, ‘If this is the last 20 episodes of Teen Wolf, how do we give everyone a really big send-off?’ We came up with this story that creates this big mystery about Stiles and the memory of Stiles.”
We know Stiles will surface in the early going of the season, and we have to think that eventually, he will return to the show, as well. Otherwise, we’ve got a pretty good feeling that this is going to end up being incredibly depressing. We don’t think the show would want to do that, anyway.
One other decision that the show is going to need to make coming up shortly is how much of certain characters they want to include. For example, will you be able to bring back someone like Arden Cho after it was learned that she won’t be a series regular? Is it possible that you can find something to do to incorporate Crystal Reed? While there is a consistent story that needs to be told, at the same exact time we want there to be some moments in here that make this feel like a genuine celebration of the show and what made it great in the first place.
